Hi!

Hello Everyone!

SPRINGTIME!  Praise the LORD!  We’ve been having beautiful springtime weather here in Wisconsin….winter is officially over, and just that makes me really happy.  On Saturday it snowed a bit, but it all melted by the afternoon.

I had a good weekend though….Saturday I helped serve and set up for the Senior Banquet here at school.  I think that they all had a good time and it was fun to help out with it…so that is good.

Only like a week and a half until Spring Break!  Crazy!  But good.  I will be happy to have a break for a little bit and to see my family and just chill for a little bit.  Also, spending drive time with Molly and Rachel will be really good too!

Classes have been really good.  This past Friday we started 3 new ones:  Ecclesiastes, Acts, and 1 Corinthians.  I am really excited about all of those.  It will be good to start going through individual books like that.  There is so much to learn from them!

Our Life of Christ class has also been amazing.  One of my favorite things that we have been taught in there and that I am still thinking a lot about was when we were going through the Beatitudes:

“Blessed are they which to hunger and thirst after righteousness..”    =urgent longing for God’s own holy character reproduced in my life.

Just having that longing and desire for God’s holiness in my life….good stuff.

Anyways, have a beautiful all of you!  God is faithful.

March 15th 2010!

Hello Everyone!

Why does time seem to be going by so fast!!!  I’m going to look back in my journal and see what was going on in my life 2 years ago at this time and then last year:

March 14th (the closest entry that I have) 2008- Here is an excerpt- “Well, yesterday was a momentous occasion. I got my driver’s license! How exciting.  No, like I was really scared and all- but it was very easy.  I got a lady to actually drive with me- so that was a lot better.  She said I did a very good job.  So, I HATE the picture, but whatever.”

Oh, wow!  2 years ago I was sixteen and just getting my driver’s license!  That is really funny!  That seems like a really long time ago!

March 12th 2009- The entry on this day isn’t really that exciting.  I am just complaining about work and getting ready to move on in life.  And, I’m talking about being excited for soccer season.

Well, I just thought that would be an entertaining thing to do!  :)

And- I also just wanted to say that I was finishing writing a paper tonight on Knowing God for my Prophets class, and I included some thoughts about these verses in there and just wanted to share them with all of you:

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.           ~Psalms 139:23-24

God is faithful to continue working in each of our lives.  I just want to be a willing vessel for Him to work on me.  Our chapel speaker today said something like, “The easiest person to lead is one who is walking with God.”  And, I was just picturing a dog on a leash or something- Like, when we are walking along with God, of course it’s going to be easier for Him to lead us….let that be my goal!  JUST WALK WITH GOD.  Amen!

Good night!

Hey Everyone!

March 9th! I can’t believe how fast time seems to be going right now!  Craziness!  We are officially over half-way done with the semester, and I think that things will be getting extra busy from here on out.  But, it’s good as well.  I’m excited about life.

Tomorrow we don’t have classes because we are having a Day of Prayer, so that will be good.  I always really like that because it’s just sort of a time to re-focus and take a break from homework.  So, that will be good.

This weekend we are going to Jackson Michigan, where the other Bible School is to have our indoor Tribal Cup with them.  I’m excited cause I’ve never been there, I know a few people there, and I like playing sports!

Also, I found out last week that I was asked to be on the Student Leadership team here at school for next fall!  So, I will be an R.A in one of the dorms!  I am really excited just about the opportunity and challenge that it will be.

I’m getting really excited for Spring Break April 1st-11th though!  I am going to road trip with Molly and Rachel, two of my really good friends, through Iowa and Nebraska.  Rachel’s family lives in Aimes Iowa, so we can spend time there, and then in Ogallala as well with my family!  There are a TON of people from here going to Florida over spring break….so we’re being pretty original just touring the midwest.  But, we are all excited and I think that we’ll have a really good time.

Anywho, that’s about all that I know for now!

Hello Everyone!

I posted a while ago just things that I had written in my Bible and stuff that sort of reflect what I am learning and stuff.  So here is another update on that.  Just some random thoughts and quotes and stuff.  I hope that some of it might encourage you as it has me….

I’m a sinner, and by definition, I need a Savior.

So, that’s it.  Just so much learning and thinking going on.  But, it’s really good….God is continuing to grow and change me.  Anywho, hope that you all are trusting Him alone!

Good night!

O, Sorry for the extreme delinquency on my part of not posting anything for so long!  I have really been meaning to…but you know how things go when you get busy!  Things are going great though here.

We got a bit more snow here last night which is a bummer, but alas.

I had a really good weekend.  On Saturday I went with some friends to Milwaukee to just walk around downtown for a while.

And, on Sunday I was able to play with the worship team at my church.  It was so much fun, it went really well, and it was just good worship too.

So, that was exciting.

Classes today were so good!  And normally I work on Mondays, but not today, so I’ve been trying to get ahead on homework some.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. ~Ecclesiastes 3:11

That’s all for today!

Wake Up, The Sun Is Beautiful!

Standard

Hi There Everyone!

Saturday afternoon, February 13th 2010.  I worked today and it was really busy…all those last minute Valentine gifts and stuff.  I must say though that I am not a big fan of Valentines Day just because everything is so expected you know?  Like, you are pretty much required to get something for your significant other and you are expecting to get something.  Ridiculous!

When I do have a man in my life, I would much rather surprise him on a random day, and I would much rather get flowers on a different day.  It’s not bad to celebrate Valentines Day, but just not for me….:)

So, the title….it’s a lyric from a song by Eisley and I just like it cause I was thinking about life and what a precious gift it is.  The world is sin filled right, we messed it all up, and it’s not what God originally intended.  But…look at all of the amazing blessings around us!!  Nature is amazing, music, the human body, sports, laughter, the ability to love and to be loved, our minds, creativity, beauty, etc.  God has blessed us SO much!

I recently had to write a paper for our theology class choosing one attribute of God and writing about it.  I chose God’s love and explored the three different facets of that: His Grace, His Mercy, and His Kindness.  What I am talking about here is His Kindness.  The fact that we do not deserve any of this stuff that He blesses us with is amazing!

So…..Wake Up, The Sun Is Beautiful!!!

Ramblings of a Tired Bible School Student….

Standard

Hi Everyone!

I really am tired tonight….and sadly, it is only 9:00pm!  Tell you what, this getting older stuff is killing me!  Just kidding!

Just wanted to share a quick thought with you all.

The verse that I am memorizing this week is:

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of you mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that is may benefit those who listen.      ~Ephesians 4:29

I’ve just been really convicted of this cause I like to talk, but sometimes it is just SO unnecessary!  I just really want my speech to be encouraging and edifying to others.  So, this is something that I am definitely working on and probably will not be something that I ever completely perfect.  But, the amazing thing is that as a Christian, I have the Holy Spirit living inside of me, and He gives me the tools that I need to grow and mature in Him!  Thank goodness!

Anyways though, just thought that I would share this with you. Hope that things are going great in each of your lives.  Remember the LORD!

Saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone,

Amy!

Life Happenings!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I’ve been such a delinquent with my posts on here.  Just been really busy!

Tomorrow our first block (out of five) ends, so we have tests, a paper, and a chart that are all due.  So, I’ve definitely been staying busy with homework.  It’s been good though.  I’m so excited to be here!

Also, I’m working a lot this week and next week.

God has blessed me with so many amazing friends!

Me and a couple of other girls have started something called ‘Tuesday Tea on Mondays’ here at school….so on Monday nights we’ve been having tea at one of the staff ladies houses and just hearing their testimonies and all of us sharing what God is doing in our lives.  So, that’s been really neat.  Getting to know staff people has been a real goal of mine for this semester.

Anywho….I will get some more important stuff on here soon…and more photos!

A Letter To Me….

Standard

Hey There Everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve updated!

Things have been going so well!  I love classes and we just finished our first whole week of classes, so I definitely feel like things are back in swing again.

So, what I wanted to share though is a letter that I wrote to myself while I was in Papua New Guinea this summer on INTERFACE…..they had us write letters and then the staff there mailed them later on.  So, I just received it yesterday in the mail and it was so encouraging and challenging, and just really amazing to be reminded of some things that I had learned there and stuff.  So, I thought that I would share it with you all….here it goes:

6/25/09                                                                                                         Dear Amy,                                                                                                               Now that you are settled back into life in the U.S.A, I hope you’re not forgetting what you learned here in PNG.  This time here really has shown you so many areas in which you need to grow.

It’s hard right now to say exactly what you’ve learned-but I know that this trip was really good for you.  Amy- remember that you don’t have to have everything figured out today or tomorrow.  God know exactly what your future holds and where He wants you.  Trust Him and never stop seeking Him- for He is faithful.

Don’t get caught up in sin- don’t let yourself be distracted by the things in this world- keep eternity in mind in everything that you do.  Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Hey- also, God knows your desires…..trust Him.  (Song of Songs 2:7)  Let God use you where you’re at- take advantage of the opportunities that He’s put in your life.  Don’t hold on to your dreams and plans so tightly that you miss what God has for you.

Stay focused on God!  Strive to be the woman that He would have you to be.  Grow in Christ- don’t allow yourself to be bogged down by friends, entertainment, music, movies, etc.

Amy- let your passion be for God- not for missions.  Make prayer a priority- read the Bible- check out biographies too.  Don’t let good things in life hinder you from the best things.  Abandon self!  Life is not about you!  Focus on other people- be God’s hands, and His feet.

Don’t let ministry take priority over God.

“God can do tremendous things through a person who doesn’t care who gets the credit”

“If our partnership with Christ isn’t solid and first- nothing in our lives will be complete.”    ~Annie Herring

Amy- your heart is drawn to the things you feed it.  (Philippians 4:8)  God is so good! Rely on Him completely- He will supply all your needs.  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Love,

Amy in PNG

Wow…..I was really encouraged and just like reminded of so many things….this was really cool.

Thanks for reading.

All for Him,

Amy!
