“At one time, we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. BUT, when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us…not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, being justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” ~Titus 3:3-7
I am amazed at God’s mercy in our lives. He is a God that takes our broken, weak, torn, and tattered lives and makes them into something beautiful that He can use. At times it is easy for me to get discouraged and overwhelmed by life and by the craziness that goes on in our world…..I was reading in Titus this morning and encouraged by the verses above about the transformation that God has done in our lives as believers…. And then I was listening to a song by Elevation Worship that was really encouraging.
It is scary to think about all the new things in life that are coming up right now….transitioning out of Wisconsin again and to Africa….and I don’t feel totally equipped for it. But, like it says in the song…”I may be weak…but your Spirit’s strong in me.” Just a good reminder for me that I need to be constantly and consistently dependent on the Lord!
Hope the Scripture and song are an encouragement to all of you as well.
