Before last summer when I went to Mexico on a missions trip with Mexican Caravan Ministries
I never knew what an unreached people group was. In America, and in our churches I know that we can get so caught up in our own lives and schedules that we don’t even think about the rest of the world. Did you know that there are 285 million people who have never even heard the gospel? That is heartbreaking to me. Living without Jesus, without Hope.
The Joshua Project explains an unreached people group as this:
“A people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group.”
I cannot imagine living without the Hope of Salvation through Jesus Christ. But there are so many around the world who have never heard.
Something that I have really enjoyed doing since coming back from Mexico is using Global Prayer Digest (a monthly magazine with a people group to pray for everyday), and Operation World to pray for people groups around the world. Not only are both of them very interesting, but it is a great way to be a part of what God is doing around the world.
